Your photo and your consent

• What we do: your selfie is sent to Google's Gemini API, which finds the hair and face in the photo, reads them, and edits only the hair to show the cut you picked. To make one preview your selfie goes to Gemini three times, or five when the automatic quality retry runs; the finished preview, which shows your face, goes to Gemini once more (twice with the retry) so we can tell hair from face in it. The read pass writes down twelve things as text: hair texture, length, colour and thickness — including any thin or bald areas — your hairline, head shape, face shape, skin tone, visible skin marks such as freckles, moles or blemishes, existing facial hair, and the photo's lighting and camera angle. If you add a reference photo, it is sent with each edit pass (up to twice).
• What we keep: we never store your selfie — it is processed in memory and discarded. When you are signed in, the finished preview (which shows your face) is stored privately on Cloudflare R2 for up to 24 hours, or for up to 365 days after you save it if you tap Save; we also keep a one-way, keyed fingerprint of the selfie file so an identical upload is not charged twice, and it is erased no later than the preview it belongs to. Signed out, no image is stored: we keep a dated record that you ticked these boxes, a counter that limits free previews and, while usage analytics are switched on, a usage event, and your browser keeps a cookie for 48 hours counting that day's previews.
• Who else processes it: every finished preview, signed in or in the signed-out demo, is screened by Sightengine (automated safety check) before you see it. Under Google's paid API terms your photos are not used to train AI models, though Google may keep inputs for a limited period to detect abuse; Sightengine processes the preview under its own terms.
• When it is destroyed: previews you don't save, or later unsave, within 24 hours of being made (within minutes if you unsave an older one); saved previews no later than 365 days after you save them; and every preview and fingerprint immediately when you revoke this consent (Account → Privacy) or delete your account.
• Never sold, never used for advertising, never used by Nobility to train AI models, and never used to identify you or anyone else — we do not use facial recognition. This consent is separate from the Terms and Privacy Policy and can be withdrawn at any time.
